Who is Loop Leagues of America?

  • Loop Leagues of America is an amateur 8-ball pool/billiard league based in Atlanta GA
  • Loop is just pool spelled backwards, reversed pool

Why start a new league?

  • There are so many bars and pool halls across America that have never had the privilege of hosting organized cue sports. We are here to fill that void.

 

What do Loop League members shoot for?

Local League Play

Teams in the same division compete locally against each other on a weekly schedule. The Division Leaders win trophies and a trip to the regional tournament. League Play has 3 sessions per year to allow teams to qualify for the regional tournament. Roughly 14 to 16 weeks per session. 

Regional Tournament

At the regional tournament Division Leaders compete against other Division Leaders for a monetary prize, trophies, and a trip to ATLANTA GA to shoot in the LOOP LEAGUE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

National Championship Tournament

  • The top qualifying REGIONAL teams from each region will compete against other REGIONAL winners in the championship tournament for monetary prizes, trophies, and bragging rights
  • Team championships will be scheduled two times per year
  • Once in December and once in June
  • Teams shoot for $5000 each championship: 1st place team $3000, 2nd place team $1000 and 3rd place team $700 and the 4th place team $300 with a 20 team minimum.
  • Anything less than 20 teams the purse will be adjusted accordingly
  • Purse increases as the league membership increases

Does the league assist with travel to Atlanta championships?

  • Yes, the league assists with air fare, rental car, gas, and hotel fare
  • However, above assistance may be portioned, all, or either/or depending on division size and distance from Atlanta GA

Where can players shoot?

  • Players shoot in a division of the league that is closest to their community
  • Contact the league for events in your area 

Where are Loop League national tournaments held?

  • The League’s national tournaments are held in Atlanta GA.

 

How many players to a team

  • Teams may start out with 3 players and are built up to 5 to 8 player teams. Eventually, each team must have at least 1 female.  Ladies are not required to shoot every week during league play. However, at least one female from every team is required to shoot in every match in every Championship Tournament

 

How does the Loop League rate players?

  • Each player has a skill level based on the players’ win/loss history.
  • Skill levels range from 1 to 7.
  • Advanced players have a higher skill level of 5, 6, and 7.
  • Beginners have a skill level of 1, 2, 3, and 4.

How is a players’ initial skill rating established?

  •  Males start as a 3 on our scale “with a few exceptions” and females start as a 2
  • 1—2—3—4—5—6—7

 

How does the Loop League handicap games in order to give players of a lower skill level the ability to compete with players of a higher skill level?

  • The League uses a software data base handicap system that tracks member’s matches and ranks players based on the shooters track record and shooting habits.

 

How much does it cost to play in the loop league?

  • There is a $20 “per person” registration fee to join and $8 league dues to play and a $20 a year annual membership fee due at the beginning of each year.

 

What rules does the Loop League play by?

  • The league uses a combination of traditional 8-ball rules, along with our own rules, in order to separate ourselves from other 8-ball leagues.

 

What other games does the Loop League offer?

  • Currently, we only offer 8-ball. In the future we will have more options.
